HI, I'M ANNA

message from the founder

10+ years in interior design & illustration · Art school & interior design training · 7 years teaching creatives and professionals to draw · Commercial projects across hospitality, real estate & beyond

But it all started very differently.

I used to be incredibly insecure about my drawings. In art school, I constantly compared myself to others and couldn't see the point of drawing if I couldn't do it perfectly. So I stopped. For over five years.

I only picked up a pencil again because I needed to prepare a portfolio for interior design school. I began sketching beautiful interiors from magazines, simply because I wanted to imagine what it would feel like to be inside those spaces.

And secretly, I hoped that my choice of interiors and the unique way I brought them to life through sketching would impress the admissions committee enough to help me fulfill my childhood dream of becoming an interior designer.

And guess what? I GOT IN!! Later, when I struggled to learn complicated 3D software, drawing became my way of working. I could explore an idea, change things instantly and actually enjoy the creative process.

And somewhere along the way,

I realized THIS:

Drawing was never about making perfectly realistic pictures.

It became my way of THINKING. Of expressing who I am, how I see the world, how I imagine changing it and even discovering ideas I didn't know I had. I'm serious!! Sometimes I'll be drawing, and suddenly a completely new idea pops into my head WHILE I'm still sketching! (Something my students often notice during classes, and you will too.)

And that's what I love about unfinished, hand-drawn sketches... Instead of presenting a picture-perfect result, we're opening up possibilities we might never have considered otherwise.

What began as a personal discovery eventually became my career, leading to illustration projects for clients across hospitality, real estate, furniture and textiles.

And somewhere along the way, other designers started connecting with my story and my approach to drawing. They began asking, “Could you teach me how to draw like that, too?”

That's why I created this Academy. To show you that drawing isn't reserved for people with extraordinary talent. It's a visual language, a skill you can learn AND a powerful tool for exploring your ideas, expressing what you imagine and bringing your creative ambitions to life, while leaving room for imagination through that beautiful, unfinished, hand-drawn touch.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

+ What tools do I need?

An iPad, an Apple Pencil, the Procreate app and an internet connection.

That's it for the core drawing lessons.

No expensive rendering software. No complicated setup.

And you'll receive the ASDB brushes and resources included in your program.

+ I'm hopeless at drawing. Can I REALLY learn?

I used to think the same.

In art school, I compared myself to everyone else. My drawings weren't realistic enough, my proportions weren't perfect, and I couldn't understand why I should draw at all.

So I quit. For FIVE years.

I only returned to drawing because I needed a portfolio for interior design school. And something changed: I finally had a reason to draw. To explore my ideas, imagine spaces and show what was on my mind.

Here's what I learned:

My 10+ years of drawing experience in five words: adjust your skills to your goal.

If you're not trying to become a classical artist, why should your drawing be judged by classical standards?

Your chair legs are too long?

Damn, maybe I WANT them that long!

Drawing isn't just about realism. It's about what YOU want to do with it.

And that's exactly what I teach.

+ I work 9 to 5 AND have a family. When am I supposed to find time to learn?

First of all, you have LIFETIME ACCESS to the Academy. Because the last thing I want is for you to feel pressured to finish everything quickly and miss out on the little details along the way.

And you don't need hours of uninterrupted time to make progress!

Got 15 minutes? Draw with me. Need to stop halfway through a lesson? Pause it and pick up where you left off tomorrow :)

One of our students, Viktoria, is a mom of THREE who also works as an accountant. She told me she couldn't wait to put her kids to bed so she could finally have a few minutes to herself and DRAW.

And in less than two weeks, she was already seeing progress, which only made her more excited to keep creating!

So YOU decide when to draw, how long to draw and how quickly to move through the Academy.

And whenever you come back, the lessons and our creative community will be there to help you keep going.

Because drawing shouldn't become another obligation on your to-do list. It should be something you look forward to:)

+ Is the Academy taught in English? What if English isn't my first language?

YES! The Academy is taught in English, but don't worry if English isn't your first language.

This is a highly visual, step-by-step program. You'll see exactly what I'm doing on my iPad as I explain each technique, using simple, easy-to-follow language.

We already have students from all over the world whose first language isn't English, and they've created some AMAZING drawings!

And if you're worried about my accent - I'm originally from Germany, so I speak English with a European accent and do my best to keep everything clear and easy to understand.

We're also planning to introduce subtitles in several widely spoken languages in the future! They're not available just yet, but making the Academy more accessible to our international community is something I'm excited about.

You don't need perfect English to learn to draw with me!

+ I'm not an interior designer. Is this still for me?

Let me introduce you to some of your peers.

Accountants. Full-time moms. Product managers. Veterinarians. Insurance representatives. Real estate agents. Architects. Designers. People retraining for an entirely different career.

Some want to design their homes.

Some want to reconnect with drawing after years away.

Some simply saw my sketches and thought, “I WANT TO DRAW LIKE THAT!”

And some eventually want to use their drawing skills professionally.

You don't need a design degree or a fancy job title...

You just need a reason to pick up that pencil ;)

+ Why this Academy and not free tutorials or other courses?

Because I've BEEN there.

Endless tutorials on random techniques I never used. Courses that taught everything at once and left me overwhelmed. YEARS of repeating the same mistakes.

And when I started drawing digitally, I didn't even know the eraser tool existed.

I'm serious! I used to cover my mistakes with the background color:D

I know how frustrating it is to spend hours learning and still feel like you're getting nowhere.

That's why I built the Academy around actual drawing and design projects, not random techniques.

Draw with me. Understand how it works. Experiment. Draw your own ideas.

The Academy has been evolving since 2020, shaped by what my students and clients actually need.

And you don't have to figure everything out alone.

+ Why draw on an iPad instead of paper?

I actually COME from traditional paper drawing. And as much as I love the feeling of pencil on paper, there were a few things that drove me CRAZY.

First, I felt anxious before almost every sketch. What if I messed it up?!

Then there were the markers. Have you SEEN how much a decent color palette costs? We're talking hundreds of euros!

And what if I wanted to test five different furniture layouts or color combinations? I'd have to redraw everything, use layers of tracing paper (which never showed the colors properly), or end up with a pile of drawings just to compare a few ideas. And don't even get me started on client revisions...

That's when digital drawing changed EVERYTHING for me. I could keep that expressive, hand-drawn feeling, but suddenly I had:

  • An UNDO button! (A blessing)

  • Every color, pencil, marker and brush I could imagine and need.

  • Unlimited room to experiment with layouts, materials and ideas without starting over.

  • The flexibility to make changes in seconds, work on large canvases and add realistic textures or patterns when needed.

With the right brushes and a paper-feel screen protector, drawing on an iPad can feel surprisingly close to drawing on paper. All the personality of traditional drawing, with the freedom to change your mind a hundred times.

And trust me, I DO change my mind a hundred times :D

+ Why draw when we have AI?

AI is AMAZING at creating beautiful final images and picture-perfect compositions.

But we're talking about real-life design, personal taste and YOUR ideas here...

How much time do we spend writing prompts, rewriting them, trying to explain to AI exactly what's in our heads… only to eventually settle for something close enough?

Wouldn't it sometimes be faster — and honestly, much more enjoyable, to just DO IT YOURSELF?

Move that chair. Change that color. Scribble over a floor plan. Try something completely different in seconds.

Be in control of every tiny detail. Enjoy the messy, imperfect part of creating. And actually SEE your vision coming to life through your own hands.

And here's the exciting part: we use AI inside the Academy, too. You'll discover how naturally it can fit into your drawing process, without taking over the creative decisions.

Because when everything becomes picture-perfect, your taste, your ideas and the way YOU see the world will matter more than ever.

So why choose between drawing and AI?

Learn to use both. Keep the creativity in your hands. And stop putting limits on what you can imagine.

+ Can you REALLY guarantee I'll draw like you?

I'll be very direct here.

If someone promises you a 100% guaranteed result… RUN.

Progress comes from YOU. Your practice, your dedication and your willingness to keep going.

But here's something else.

I don't actually want you to draw exactly like me.

Look at our students' work. Different styles, different ideas, different personalities. That's the whole point

The techniques I teach come from years of collecting, trying, failing, improving and using drawing professionally.

I believe in them because I've seen what students can do with them.

But the drawing? That's YOURS.

+ Will I get support, or am I alone?

You're not alone!

You'll join our private community, where students share their drawings, ask questions, exchange ideas and celebrate each other's progress.

And I'm there too.

I looooveeee seeing what you're creating, especially those messages that start with:

“Anna… DID I REALLY DRAW THIS?!”

Because I know exactly how that feels:)

+ I still have more questions before enrolling, where can I reach you?

I’ll be more than happy to answer them personally!

Just send me an email at [email protected], or DM me on Instagram (@andshedrawsbig) we can chat there.

I totally get it, by the way, before I invest in any program myself, I always have a lot of questions too :)

P.S. This is exactly why I believe so strongly in online education. No vague theory. No traditional classes that slowly kill your confidence  and where you work on  those boring projects of your professors for weeks without any progress. Been there too.

Instead, learning directly from people who have actually done it - IN REAL WORLD.

That’s how I learn myself: from professionals with REAL experience, REAL results, and years of actually using the skill before teaching it.

So you can be 1000% sure - you’re in safe hands with me :)
