Drawing isn’t what you think it is
Nov 21, 2025
You don’t need drawing.
You actually don’t because drawing itself isn’t always the most productive use of time, and yes, it ABSOLUTELY requires patience. And if you don’t want to become a full-time artist, there is technically no reason to dive into drawing.
Except there is and this one reason outweighs everything above a hundred times.
Welcome to my Friday insights, thoughts, and stories on how to make our lives more creative, effective, inspiring, calm, and simply more beautiful!
Tell me if ANY of these sound familiar:
“Nah, I don’t want to sit at a desk for hours just to end up with embarrassing scribbles.”
“I’m not planning to be Picasso, so why should I spend time learning to draw?”
“My teachers told me not to even try.”
“I had no idea how to start as a total beginner, so I just walked away.”
“Why am I drawing repetitive things over and over? So boring!”
Believe it or not, that was literally me today at art school which I went back to at 32.
My goal: expand my interiors by adding characters, owners, and their fabulous worlds.
And this Friday, trust me, I had better things to do than draw nude figures inside an interior scene. I was questioning my life choices, thinking:
Why am I doing this to myself when I’m already an advanced artist and designer?
Except… this is exactly what makes my inner world shine outward.
It fulfills my inner child.
It reconnects me with my biggest dreams of working with my dream brands.
It keeps me aligned with what truly matters to me.
And this is exactly why EVERY person needs drawing.
Not to draw an interior, a vase, a landscape (pick your object) in a perfectly realistic way to please a teacher…
…but to remove the boundaries between your thoughts and how you communicate them to the world.
I bet you’ve already had moments like:
- “How else can I show my idea to this contractor without those time-consuming, inflexible renders?”
- “How do I explain to the designer what I want in my living room?”
- “How can I show the artist what I imagine for my postcard?”
Drawing is the bridge between your ideas and reality.
The bonus: it reconnects you with your inner creative child - the one who NEVER questioned their path.
It’s about the JOURNEY, the process, the freedom.
You don’t need to lock yourself in an art school for months (I’m doing it because I have a very clear goal and unfortunately, I actually do need to be there because my mentors open an entire world of skills I never saw on my own. That’s the importance of NOT learning alone. A great mentor shortcuts you months, if not years.)
You only need to learn the aspects that matter for your projects. Period.
Don’t confuse drawing as a tool with drawing as a full-time career.
Imagine being FREE in your visual expression whether it’s:
- communicating design ideas to contractors
- sketching a travel scene with loved ones and later reliving that moment through the drawing
- showing your kids the beauty of hand-drawn creativity
- or even meeting the love of your life through sketching (real story - saw it on Instagram: she sketched him, he noticed, approached her, complimented her art… and asked her on a date)
And ALL of this… because you understand what drawing ACTUALLY is.
I want to open this world for you because I know how much easier and cooler life becomes when you also have a mentor guiding your hand and walking you through the process.
My signature drawing roadmap has guided over 1000 creatives like you, and since it’s retiring, I don’t want you to miss it, because there are so many practical, fun, powerful techniques inside.

Wishing you a creative weekend and never doubt your ability to make life more beautiful through your incredible creative potential!
