The REAL Reason I Draw Interiors

May 16, 2025

Today’s newsletter will help you find patterns in your life that will set the foundation for your life mission, just as it did for me after I dove deep into my own journey. I’ve felt so drawn to interiors my entire life, and I’ll explain why the iPad helped me break through the plateau phase and get unstuck, and why some things feel so natural to us, while others are challenging to even start. All answers inside.

Our childhood sets the tone for our lives, and how we interpret it is our responsibility. The fact that I draw and obsess over interiors and beauty goes back way earlier than my interior design studies (when using renders felt like a cage for my creativity, but that’s another story lol).

I never had a separate room until I was 16. I secretly dreamed about having one, like all my friends with their safe havens, those characteristic rooms - the teenage corners where you hang out with your friends. This was never the case for me.

My parents once tried to divide the living room into two parts so I could have my “separate room,” but my wish never came true during my school years. It was only when I turned 16, and we finally moved to a bigger apartment, that I had my first room during my journalism studies (yep, I became a student at 16).

As we grow older, we start to understand how our bodies respond to certain events, and in my case, it was an entire package, which ultimately became one of my strong WHYs for the Academy. Without a room of my own, I spent my entire adult life searching for that "home."

After my art school criticism, I stopped drawing for five years, and it took immense inner work to accept my art. I can’t bring those five years back, but YOU can. And that’s also why I’m so passionate about you drawing with me at the Academy. So that when people dare to tell you that you don’t have talent or that something is wrong with your art skills, we can send them to Mars :D
When I lost my interior design job, I was left with almost nothing and had to move into a tiny hotel room a friend of mine had. There, I began building my creative business, which eventually allowed me to move into my dream skyscraper apartment. I talked about this story here.

And it was surreal because, as a student, I remember driving past those tall buildings and wondering... HOW. Is this only available to bankers? Nope, it’s also for full-time artists and designers :D

Now, I want you to make a small analysis too. You have something you’ve been secretly dreaming about doing, but the outer circumstances have always told you "NO, BE REAL." Those circumstances, "quite and quote," are the patterns and voices from the past that stop you from doing the thing you’ve been dreaming about.

We don’t heal overnight. It’s a process. But the sooner we recognize this, the faster and closer we step toward our true purpose.

BUT, there is something I wish I had known a decade ago: we must ask for help when it comes to TOOLS. Is there something that will help make the transition smooth? Something that will break you free? Be the starting point?

As you’ve guessed, for me, it was my iPad. Since the fear of mistakes seemed to be in my DNA (it really feels like it), knowing that I could undo anything at any time, digital tools gave me the keys to break free from the handcuffs created by those past events. And it felt easy, it felt free.

So, I followed that intuition and merged it with the pain from my past, which has grown into something so big, personal, and purposeful, with such a big mission that it really makes me wonder: life gives us opportunities when we’re ready to receive them.

I started drawing interiors because I’ve always felt connected to them since childhood. But all those outer circumstances, like “forget about interior design, go study architecture like your mom” (my parents are the most supportive people, don’t get me wrong), did shut that dream down in the beginning, so I decided to study journalism. But when you stay persistent enough, they eventually support you.

Now, I’m stepping into a new level for me as an art brand, and I’m dealing with the demons from my past - from my art school days, in particular, when my vases weren’t drawn realistically enough compared to peers X or Y!

If you’re reading this, I want you to understand that the only truth is YOU. Art, design, and everything you do is the expression of your personality and ideas, and the tool to share them with the world. This is why there is no right or wrong - because you can’t be right or wrong. This is YOU.

If you want to continue this discussion, you will certainly enjoy my brand new workshop I recorded yesterday, where I talk about exactly this, and the professional side of art and design. Watch the recording HERE - you won’t regret it. We are in it together, no matter how many years we’ve been in our fields.
